A message to our patients – an update on the COVID-19 booster programme

Across England, many NHS organisations are working hard to roll out the COVID-19 booster vaccination programme to their communities.

All adults age 18 and over are now eligible for a booster vaccine, 91 days or more after their second dose.

Lancaster Medical Practice and Queen Square Medical Practice have now invited all patients who are eligible to book in for a booster vaccination – we have a significant number of clinics running between now and the end of the year, at a number of locations across Lancaster.  Patients will continue to be invited as they become eligible.  Details of the clinics can be found on our website – December COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics – Lancaster Medical Practice

In order to deliver the significant number of vaccines requested by the Prime Minister, there will be a small number of changes to some of our routine appointments. We have done all we can to limit the disruption to patients as much as possible.  If you are a patient affected by these, you will be contacted directly – if you do not hear from the practice please assume that your appointment will continue as booked.  If you have an appointment booked but feel that your appointment is no longer required, please contact the practice to cancel – this can be done by telephoning 01524 842200 and choosing option 4 to leave a voicemail message.

If you contact the practice because you have a new cough, high temperature, loss of taste and/or smell (symptoms of COVID-19), or general cold symptoms, but are otherwise generally well, we will advise patients to seek a PCR test for COVID-19 before contacting the practice for further advice. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind patients of the importance of regular lateral flow testing, to protect those closest to you – tests can be ordered through the government website (Order coronavirus (COVID-19) rapid lateral flow tests – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
